Who is this tour for?

・First-time visitors who want to visit Jiufen, Shifen, and Yehliu in one day
・Families traveling with children or seniors
・Travelers who do not want to spend time planning public transportation
・Guests who prefer a flexible schedule instead of following a fixed group tour
・Travelers who want to take photos, release sky lanterns, visit old streets, and avoid carrying luggage around
・International visitors who need basic assistance with transportation and timing

If you are a young backpacker with plenty of time and a tight budget, taking trains and buses can also be an option.

However, if comfort, time, and a smoother travel experience matter more to you, a private car charter will be much easier.

Recommended Routes

A. Classic Route|Jiufen + Shifen + Golden Waterfall

Recommended for first-time visitors who want to take photos, release sky lanterns, and enjoy the trip without rushing through too many places.

Suggested Route:

Depart from Taipei
→ Shifen Waterfall
→ Shifen Old Street / Pingxi Sky Lantern
→ Golden Waterfall
→ Remains of the 13 Levels
→ Yin-Yang Sea Viewpoint
→ Jiufen Old Street
→ Return to Taipei

This is the most balanced route. The travel distance between each stop is reasonable, and you will still have time for photos, walking around, snacks, and shopping.

It is also more comfortable for families traveling with children or seniors.

B. Yehliu Coast Route|Yehliu + Shifen + Jiufen

Recommended for travelers who want to see the North Coast scenery, the Queen’s Head, unique rock formations, and still include Jiufen and Shifen in the same day.

Suggested Route:

Depart from Taipei
→ Yehliu Geopark
→ Shifen Waterfall
→ Shifen Old Street / Pingxi Sky Lantern
→ Jiufen Old Street
→ Return to Taipei

Yehliu is farther from Taipei. If you try to visit Yehliu, Shifen, and Jiufen by public transportation, it usually takes more time and requires more transfers.

A private car charter is a better option for families, seniors, or travelers with limited time.

C. Family-Friendly Slow Route|Houtong + Shifen + Jiufen

Recommended for families with children, cat lovers, and travelers who prefer a slower and easier day without packing in too many stops.

Suggested Route:

Depart from Taipei
→ Houtong Cat Village
→ Shifen Waterfall
→ Shifen Old Street / Pingxi Sky Lantern
→ Jiufen Old Street
→ Return to Taipei

This route is more relaxed and easier to manage. Children can enjoy Houtong Cat Village and sky lanterns, while adults can still spend time at Jiufen Old Street.

It is a comfortable choice for family travelers.

Why is a private car recommended for this route?

Jiufen, Shifen, Yehliu, and Houtong may all look close on the map, but the transportation between these places is not as simple as it seems.

If you travel by public transportation, you usually need to transfer between trains, buses, and taxis. On weekends, rainy days, or when traveling with luggage, children, or seniors, the trip can become tiring very quickly.

Benefits of a private car charter:

✔ Depart directly from your hotel, no need to carry luggage around early in the morning
✔ No need to transfer between different types of transportation
✔ Jiufen, Shifen, and Yehliu can be arranged in a better order based on the day’s conditions
✔ If it rains or the crowds are heavy, the schedule can be adjusted more easily
✔ Children and seniors can rest in the car when needed
✔ Private tour only for your group, no need to follow strangers’ schedules

The attractions themselves are not difficult to visit. The real challenge is the transportation between them. That is where a private car charter makes the trip much easier.

Pick-up and Drop-off Locations

In general, pick-up and drop-off can be arranged at hotels, accommodations, or designated locations within Taipei City.

If your pick-up or drop-off location is outside Taipei City, such as Taoyuan Airport, remote areas of New Taipei City, Keelung, Yilan, or other cities, please provide the address in advance.

We will help confirm whether the arrangement is possible and whether any additional fee applies.

Tour Duration

The basic service duration for this tour is 10 hours.

For the Jiufen, Shifen, and Yehliu route, an 8-hour schedule can be quite rushed, especially on weekends, rainy days, or when Jiufen is crowded.

Therefore, we recommend arranging this tour with 10 hours. The overall schedule will be more stable and better suited for families and international travelers.

Route Introduction

This private day tour begins from your Taipei hotel. In the morning, choose between visiting the stunning geological formations of Yehliu Geopark, famous for the Queen’s Head, or explore Houtong Cat Village, a former coal mining town transformed into a cat-themed attraction. Next, head to Shifen Waterfall, called the “Taiwan Niagara,” then release sky lanterns at Pingxi Old Street. Finally, explore Jiufen Old Street, known for its mining history, nostalgic alleys, and coastal scenery. A dedicated, professional driver ensures a flexible and safe trip.

  • Yehliu Geopark

Located on the north coast of New Taipei City, Yehliu is famous for its unique sea-eroded geological formations, including the iconic “Queen’s Head” and “Fairy’s Shoe” rocks that resemble natural sculptures. Walking trails, educational boards, and scenic viewpoints make it a must-visit to witness nature’s incredible artistry.

  • Houtong Cat Village

A former coal mining village that became a haven for stray cats cared for by the locals, Houtong is now known across Taiwan as the “Cat Village.” Dozens of friendly cats roam freely among cat-themed shops and cafes, making it a paradise for cat lovers.

  • Shifen Waterfall

Often called the “Taiwan Niagara Falls,” this spectacular 40-meter-wide, 20-meter-high curtain-style waterfall offers powerful, scenic views. Surrounding wooden walkways and viewing platforms make it a popular photo spot in the Shifen area.

  • Pingxi Sky Lantern

In Pingxi Old Street, visitors can enjoy the nostalgic railway village atmosphere and traditional shops. One of the highlights is releasing a sky lantern on the railway tracks to make wishes for peace and good luck, experiencing Taiwan’s unique festival traditions.

  • Jiufen Old Street

Once a prosperous gold mining town, Jiufen has transformed into a charming hillside tourist spot with narrow lanes lined with tea houses, retro dessert shops, street food stalls, and craft boutiques. When lanterns light up in the evening, the atmosphere becomes even more romantic and nostalgic.

Notes

Important Notes

To help ensure a smooth travel experience and protect the safety of both travelers and the driver, please review the following information before booking.

About Departure, Postponement, and Safety Decisions

If natural disasters, road closures, traffic restrictions, or other unexpected situations occur before departure or on the day of the tour, including but not limited to earthquakes, typhoons, heavy rain, weather alerts, falling rocks, landslides, or road closures, and these conditions affect travel safety or the operation of the itinerary, the company reserves the right to decide whether the tour can depart as scheduled based on the actual situation.

If the tour cannot be operated safely, we will coordinate with travelers to postpone the tour, adjust the itinerary, or process refunds according to the cancellation policy.

Safety will always be prioritized over the original itinerary. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Weather Conditions

Jiufen, Shifen, Yehliu, Houtong, and other attractions on this route are mostly outdoor or semi-outdoor locations, so the travel experience may be affected by the weather.

If poor weather affects the sightseeing experience, such as rain, fog, poor visibility, strong coastal winds or waves, slippery walkways, or difficulty taking ideal photos, this cannot be used as a reason for cancellation, refund, or compensation.

If weather conditions affect the quality of certain stops, the driver will provide suggestions based on the situation and help adjust the order of stops or the pace of the itinerary.

Flexible Itinerary Adjustments

This is a private car charter, and we will do our best to follow the booked itinerary. However, the actual route may still be affected by traffic, weather, crowds, attraction restrictions, parking conditions, temporary road conditions, or other force majeure factors.

If any of the above situations cause delays, shorter stop durations, route adjustments, or make certain attractions unavailable, the driver will help arrange a more suitable order based on the conditions of the day.

Any itinerary adjustment will be made with safety, time management, and overall travel flow as the priorities. The company will not provide additional compensation or refunds for such adjustments.

Holiday and Crowd Notice

Jiufen, Shifen, Yehliu, and other popular attractions may experience heavy traffic, large crowds, limited parking, or adjusted pick-up and drop-off points during weekends, consecutive holidays, national holidays, and peak travel seasons.

If the attractions are crowded on the day of travel, we recommend keeping communication open with the driver and adjusting the order of stops and the duration of each visit based on the actual traffic and crowd conditions.

The roads around Jiufen Old Street are narrow, and traffic controls may apply during certain periods. Vehicles may not always be able to stop at the closest point to the old street. The driver will arrange a suitable pick-up and drop-off point according to local traffic rules and safety conditions.

Vehicle Rules

To maintain the quality of the vehicle and protect the comfort of future travelers, please keep the vehicle clean and avoid the following behaviors:

• Eating or drinking inside the vehicle
• Smoking or using electronic cigarettes

• Any other behavior that may cause stains, odor, damage, or extra cleaning inside the vehicle

If you feel unwell, experience motion sickness, or need a temporary stop during the trip, please inform the driver as early as possible. The driver will assist when it is safe to do so.

If any passenger causes stains, odor, vomiting, damage to vehicle equipment, or requires extra cleaning, the traveler will be responsible for the cleaning fee, repair fee, or related compensation based on the actual situation. Payment must be settled in cash on site.

If you need a child seat, please inform us at the time of booking and provide the child’s age, height, weight, and the number of child seats required.

Child seats must be reserved in advance and may not be available for last-minute requests.

If your group includes infants, seniors, pregnant travelers, wheelchair users, guests with limited mobility, or travelers who are prone to motion sickness, we also recommend informing us in advance. This will help us arrange a more suitable vehicle and travel pace.

Pingxi Sky Lantern Arrangement

The company and driver are not responsible for any loss, items left behind, damage, or belongings taken by a third party during the trip.

・The company reserves the right to adjust the operation of the itinerary based on safety, weather, road conditions, and actual operating circumstances.

By booking this tour, travelers are deemed to have understood and agreed to the above important notes.

FAQ

Q1: Can I adjust the attractions for this tour?

Yes. This is a private car charter, not a shared group tour.

You may choose from Jiufen, Shifen, Yehliu, Houtong, Golden Waterfall, the Yin-Yang Sea, and other nearby attractions.

However, the actual number of attractions that can be arranged depends on the service duration, traffic conditions, and how long you wish to stay at each stop. If the itinerary is too packed, we will suggest adjustments to avoid making the day too rushed.

Q2: Can Jiufen, Shifen, and Yehliu be visited in one day?

Yes, but we recommend arranging this tour with a 10-hour service duration for a more suitable pace.

If you would like to visit Yehliu, Shifen, and Jiufen in one day, the timing needs to be planned carefully.

If you are traveling with children or seniors, or if you would like more time for photos, food, and walking around, we do not recommend adding too many extra stops.

Q3: Can the tour start from Taoyuan Airport?

Yes, you may inquire with us, but the price will be different from a Taipei City departure.

If you would like to start from Taoyuan Airport after arrival, visit Jiufen and Shifen, and then continue to your hotel in Taipei, please provide your flight time, number of travelers, luggage quantity, and hotel address. We will help confirm whether the arrangement is suitable.

Q4: Can I bring luggage on the vehicle?

Yes, but please inform us of the number and size of your luggage in advance.

Different vehicle types have different luggage capacities. If there are more passengers and large luggage, a larger vehicle may be required, or the vehicle arrangement may need to be adjusted.

Q5: Does the driver speak English?

The starting price of NT$5,000 includes Chinese-speaking driver service.

If you need an English-speaking driver, please inform us when making an inquiry. We will provide a separate quotation based on the travel date, vehicle type, and service requirements.

An English-speaking driver mainly assists with basic communication and itinerary timing.

If you need historical explanations, cultural background, or in-depth guiding at the attractions, please check with our customer service team about arranging a professional tour guide.

Q6: What is the difference between a driver and a tour guide?

A driver is mainly responsible for driving, basic communication, pick-up and drop-off reminders, itinerary timing, and some basic travel assistance.

A professional tour guide can provide a more complete guided travel experience, including attraction explanations, cultural introductions, and historical background.

These are different services and have different prices. If you need full guiding service throughout the trip, we recommend adding a professional tour guide instead of choosing only a driver.

Q7: Can we still visit Jiufen and Shifen if it rains?

Yes. Jiufen and Shifen can still be visited on rainy days, but the experience may be affected. For example, walkways may be slippery, taking photos may be less convenient, and the old streets may feel more crowded.

If the weather is not ideal, the driver will help adjust the stop duration or order of the itinerary based on the on-site situation. If you are traveling with children or seniors, please let us know in advance.

Q8: Can the vehicle drive directly to the entrance of Jiufen Old Street?

The roads around Jiufen Old Street are narrow, and traffic controls or heavy crowds are common during weekends and holidays. Vehicles may not always be able to stop at the closest point to the old street.

The driver will arrange a suitable pick-up and drop-off point based on local traffic rules and safety conditions. This is one of the key reasons why local experience matters for a Jiufen private charter.

Q9: What happens if the tour exceeds 10 hours?

If the tour exceeds the original service duration, overtime fees will be charged according to the vehicle type and the actual overtime situation.

If you would like to spend more time in Jiufen, wait for the night view, or include more attractions, we recommend informing our customer service team before booking. We can help evaluate whether the planned time is sufficient.

Q10: Is this tour suitable for children or seniors?

Yes.

If you travel this route by public transportation, multiple transfers are usually required, which can be tiring for children and seniors. A private car charter reduces the need for transfers, waiting, and long walking distances, while also allowing the itinerary to be adjusted based on the group’s energy level.

If your group includes a stroller, child seat, wheelchair, or seniors with limited mobility, please inform us in advance. We will help evaluate a more suitable route.
